Yesterday I visited the beautiful, amazing Cadet Chapel of the United States Air Force Academy. Look at the 17 spires that point heavenward:

And today is Ascension Day, that day of the church calendar when Christians all over the world consider the amazing event of Jesus's ascension into heaven after His death and resurrection.

My spirit is fairly floating as I consider the reality of the risen Christ.

"God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the Lord amid the sounding of trumpets. Sing praises to God, sing praises. Sing praises to our King, sing praises. For God is the King of the earth; sing to him a psalm of praise" (Psalm 47: 5-7).

But oh, my friends, the good news is that Jesus is not just in Heaven, seated at the right hand of the Father. The great good news is that He is also here, in our hearts and in our midst. Right here in this messy, fallen world. Redeeming. Reclaiming. Renewing.

He is here, and that is something to celebrate every day.

  1. How cool that you were able to visit the AF Academy. When my dad was in the AF after college, he and my mom lived just off the academy. :) I love how you find a beautiful connection to God with every day events. :)

  2. My family and I visited the Cadet Chapel at the Air Force Academy a few years ago. A beautiful sight. You are right it is great news that Jesus is right here with us. Thank you for sharing today.

  3. What a GREAT post!! Today, I've been feeling God telling me to "lift up" my concerns to Him so when I read that today is Ascenion honor of the day Jesus was lifted up I knew it was not coincidence :) May we all lift up our cares & concerns today!

  4. I hope you went inside too. I love the tour guide people who will tell so many behind the scenes info. My favorite in there is the Jewish Chapel downstairs. Rich, rich history.

  5. This is a fantastic post!

I love the name of your blog.

  6. O how I needed to hear the WORD today, a balm on my heart.
    Thanks for sharing.

  7. So thankful he is here with us!! Have a great week friend! Love you!

  8. My husband taught at the Academy and we loved living there. The chapel is one of the most awe inspiring places on earth. So glad you were able to visit and enjoy the beauty.
