Grace at Home No. 384

Hello, friends! I hope all is well with you.

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I've had a big week. My husband and I just celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary!

35 years is a long time to be married, y'all. I must say I am deeply grateful that our marriage has weathered many ups and downs over the years, and I love my husband now more than ever.

I'm so glad you're here for the Grace at Home party, where we celebrate all the ways we make our homes places of grace. Here are some links from our last party I think you'll enjoy.

July 4 is fast approaching. As imperfect as this country is, and even though there are some real changes that need to be made in American society, I am still grateful to live in the U.S., and I am proud to display the flag. So I love this flag craft from Carol at Blue Sky at Home.

As the weeks of pandemic turn into months, you might need a little inspiration about keeping your home. If so, you'll appreciate this post from Melissa at A Virtuous Woman.

Working on your yard this year? You'll be glad to see these tips about growing beautiful hostas from Lois at Walking on Sunshine.

If your weather has been as hot as ours, you'll be glad to get a new crock pot recipe--who wants to stand at the stove or turn on the oven at this time of year? Carol at Comfort Spring shared her recipe for Lemon Garlic Chicken that sounds delicious.

Need a little encouragement from God's word? Check out Soul Survival from Donna Reidland. I loved her reminder that pride can lead us into dangerous waters.

Grace at Home No. 383

Hello, friends! Here we are, almost at the middle of June already. Isn't it amazing how the days of this year have dragged and yet months are flying by?

I'm so glad you're here for the Grace at Home party, where we celebrate all the ways we make our homes places of grace. Here are some highlights from last week's party.

If you're looking to freshen up your space with some fresh pillows, check out these darling pillows created by Lisa from Fresh Vintage! She bought the napkins I mentioned a few weeks ago and used some to make these:

My herb garden is growing like crazy right now, so I was delighted to read this guide for how to dry herbs from Rachel at The Pond's Farmhouse.

If you're like me, you've really been missing getting together with your friends. Diane from South House Designs offers lots of wonderful ideas for hosting a safe gathering when the time comes.

To make your get-together really special, perhaps you'd like to make your own paper lanterns! Jayne from Chalking Up Success shows you how.

Need to plan summer activities for your children or grandchildren? You'll be glad to get this
Summer Camp at Home planner from Melissa at A Virtuous Woman.

Have you been struggling with the feeling of being in limbo throughout the COVID-19 pandemic? You'll be encouraged by reading these thoughts from Rita at Panoply.

Grace at Home No. 382

Welcome, friends.

My heart is heavy as I type these words. Last week's killing of George Floyd saddened us all, and the violence that has ensued since then has further broken our hearts.

I want to share something with you. I've now made three posts on Instagram since George Floyd's death. After posting these, I lost quite a few Instagram followers. I was surprised by that, but since then I've seen a number of conversations online wherein people say things like "I don't want to hear about that," "That's not what I want to see," or "I just want things to be happy and light."

I understand that last statement; I really do. It's all I can do to turn on the news these days. And yet I know from conversations with my friends who are black and brown that the rest of us have too often turned away, too often wanted to move on quickly from tragedy, too often just wanted to focus on something else.

Here's why I am talking about this here. My weekly party is called "Grace at Home," because I firmly believe that we have the power to make our homes a reflection of God's grace. The events of the past several days have reminded me that we have the responsibility to do so. There will be no change in the world if we don't get our hearts right and then make our spheres of influence right.

Each one of us can be a world-changer, one tiny step at a time.

What do you think? I'd be happy to talk about it with you, my friends.

And now I'll share some highlights from last week's Grace at Home party.

Do you find yourself overwhelmed at the start of summer, wondering what you can do this year to keep everyone at home happy and healthy? Coco from The Crowned Goat offers a number of easy ways to ease into summer.
If you're like me, your summertime will include lots of sitting on the porch. Diane from South House Designs devised an easy and ingenious way to hang curtains to elevate your outdoor space.

Want to use the long days of summer to complete some projects in your home? How about a beautiful gallery wall? Kristin from White Arrows Home created a gallery wall featuring illustrations from a thrift store book, and she shares all her tips.

If you need inspiration for a little kid's room, check out this construction-themed space from Kimberly at Lou Lou Girls.

Summertime here also means lots of bugs, but Chas from Chas' Crazy Creations is here to help. She came up with several ways to fight pests from inexpensive household ingredients.

Need to remind yourself of God's faithfulness? Jenn from The Everyday Farmhouse created a coloring sheet (free download) to help you.

And finally, if you've been experiencing anxiety, you'll be glad to see that Dr. Michelle Bengtson shares practical steps for overcoming worry.

Thanks so much to everyone who joined last week's party!
