Fall tabletops

One of my favorite ways to bring seasonal decor into my home is by decorating the tabletops.  This year's decor is simple but very fallish.

My dining room table wears a burlap "runner" I made a few years ago.  Actually, this is just a piece of burlap folded into the shape of a runner.  I just fringed the ends and called it good. The mercury glass pumpkins I found at TJMaxx at the end of August.  The stocker was just putting them out--he probably thought I was crazy for buying all that he had on his cart!

I like the rough fabric of the burlap juxtaposed with the soft, shiny finish of the pumpkins.  And I'm especially fond of the way you can see a soft reflection of the pumpkins in the tabletop.

Echoing the mercury glass in the tabletop pumpkins, I added these little mercury glass candle holders to the primitive sideboard.  I found at Target.  Aren't they pretty with tealights in them?

The living room coffee tablescape is pretty simple, too.  I added a new jug from Pottery Barn, which was my one splurge this fall.  To go with that, I simply used some acorns in a small hurricane around a candle.  On top of the box is a heavy metal acorn.

Lighting candles makes things especially cozy in the fall, don't you think?

The little side table holds a finial I've had for a long time plus a couple of new acorn finials.  These were a TJMaxx find as well.  They were a rather garish gold, so I painted them Heirloom White, distressed them, and rubbed on a dark glaze.  I also painted the bases to match the big jug on the coffee table.

The breakfast room is home to one of my favorite pieces--my mother's antique dough cabinet.  I usually display a lot of pumpkins here, but this fall it's pretty simple, too:  some fall flowers in an aqua vase and just a few pumpkins complement the chalkboard plate and candle holders.

My screened porch got a little makeover this spring when I added some aqua and orange pieces.  These seem happy to go right into Autumn!

The lamp table vignette is very simple--a few pumpkins and a favorite aqua vase along with a live plant.

The porch dining table holds a harvest basket which was easy to create with pine cones, acorns, berries, and fall fruits.  It sits happily on an old Domino's sugar bag and is easy to move when we want to eat on the porch.

Those are my Fall tabletops!  They make me smile and encourage me to keep the tabletops cleaned off (and I'll take all the encouragement I can get in that respect!)
