Grace Imparted 4

Last week I took a photo of my youngest son's room. His bedroom, that is. Notice there is no bed. There's no room for a bed!

But then I took Lee to IKEA, and he and I chose the Brimnes bed. We loaded up the three boxes and hauled them home.

Lee (aka LegoLee329) is an amazing LEGO builder. As you know, LEGO is a Danish company. All assembly instructions are pictorial--no language barrier. IKEA furniture features pictorial instructions, too. No language barrier, but for a wordy girl such as I, no language help, either! I'm not sure how well I would have done trying to assemble the bed on my own. But I didn't do it on my own--Lee and I did it together. He was awesome at following the directions, and we actually had a good time building it. Seriously--a mom and a 14-year-old boy had fun assembling a piece of furniture.

The next morning, I sneaked in and took this photo while Lee slept. Same windows as in the photo above--but now instead of clutter, there's a sturdy bed holding a boy who's earned his rest.

I thank God for the chance to build memories along with furniture. And I'm so thankful for my LegoLee! What grace God imparts to us through our children!

How about you? Will you share the story of a gift you've received from God's hand? It can be large or small--I'd love to hear about it! Click here to read all about this new linky party celebrating God's gifts to us. Help yourself to a button and help me spread the word.

  1. Hello friend! I've had to wait to get home to join your party, but I'm so glad I could link up today. What a great idea.

And also? Ikea? I love that place. My 13 year old daughter put a bookshelf together by herself this year. Amazing!

  2. Hi Richella,
What a sweet story about you and your son building that bed. At the age of 14 yrs. old, that is truly a gift from the Lord to have that lovely experience together.
I had done a story on my blog last week so decided to just link it up to you this morning. I do a Monday Manna post sometimes.
thanks for hosting this loving idea.
Blessings to you and yours, and it looks like that bed must be pretty comfortable........

  3. Oh, this sooooo strikes a chord with me Richella! My sweet 8 yr old and I bond so much when I sit down to build Legos with him and he told me the other day that I am the best "part finder" in the world. LOL! I think the fact that you built that bed together is something your son will always remember and you are giving me so much encouragement as a fellow mom of a boy. :-) This truly is such a fantastic party idea and I'm enjoying having a place to share what God is doing in our lives. Thanks so much!

  5. I love doing things with my Kiddo. I'm writing a post to be included in the linky but want to wait to post until my husband sends the pics he took with his phone. I conveniently forgot to bring my camera yesterday. : ) Suffice it to say that my son, my husband, and myself were all three serving in the same ministry yesterday...and it made my heart happy. : )

  6. That is so sweet. I'm having the same kind of fun with my oldest redoing the girls' room. There is nothing like spending time with your teenage baby, is there?
