You never know what might happen. . .

Anybody wanna guess what this is?

It's a photo of my left hand. Just for the record, I don't normally keep that attractive bandage on my hand.

Last night, as I was industriously cutting a piece of cardboard with a very sharp box cutter--you know what I'm going to say, don't you?

I'll spare you the gory details. Suffice it to say there are lots of blood vessels in your fingertips. Two hours after the accident, after lots of compression and elevation, my finger was still bleeding.

Oh, well. It had been 21 years since I'd had to get stitches. And won't a new scar complement my always-pristine manicure? (Please tell me you like sarcasm.)

So how about you? Have you had a good day?

  3. I'm so sorry, Richella. I sliced mine trying to cut an onion not long ago. Until then, I didn't realize how much a finger can bleed. Hope you feel better soon. Carla

  20. Oh, Richella!!! I'm so sorry!

Here's a story that might make you feel better...no...I take that back...but just know that I empathize with you! On December 10, 2003 (I remember the date!) I was looking out the very large window (with no muntins to separate the very large glass pames. Very. Large.) in my sewing room to watch the dogs outside. Shadow had this really, really nasty habit of...well...eating...the...stuff...in the...okay, do you get where I'm going with this? Anyway, when he started eating, I usually just knocked on the window and he'd stop. Well, on this very cold December day, the window was frozen (We have terrible insulation in that room and the window was very old and single paned). So, when I knocked on it, it EXPLODED. Cut my wrist really badly. I ended up in the ER and had to really laugh it up to convince the nurses and doctor that I hadn't done it intentionally! :)

So...I feel (actually felt) your pain, girl.

  21. Oh, I'm so sorry! You're in good company though. Last week a wooden side-rail of an antique bed {that was propped up in the garage} landed on my head. An emergency room bill, some staples, and a lovely bald spot are what I'm getting for Christmas. : )
