Lead me to Calvary

Midway through Holy Week, I'm apt to be caught up in the bustle of preparations for Easter--and I need a reminder of what this week is all about.  Maybe you do, too.

Lead me to Calvary: a hymn for our hearts

May this old hymn bless you as it has blessed me:

King of my life, I crown Thee now,
Thine shall the glory be;
Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow,
Lead me to Calvary.

Show me the tomb where Thou wast laid,
Tenderly mourned and wept;
Angels in robes of light arrayed
Guarded Thee whilst Thou slept.

Let me, like Mary, through the gloom,
Come with a gift to Thee;
Show to me now the empty tomb,
Lead me to Calvary.

May I be willing, Lord, to bear
Daily my cross for Thee;
Even Thy cup of grief to share,
Thou hast borne all for me.

Lest I forget Gethsemane,
Lest I forget Thine agony,
Lest I forget Thy love for me,
Lead me to Calvary.

                               --Jennie Hussey

Is there anything special you do this week to keep your heart in tune?  I'd love to hear about it!

Yes, I remember singing that old it. I miss the old hymns sometimes too. Have a blessed Easter, Richella :)

Debby, I am blessed to be part of a congregation of folks who love the old hymns! We sing a lot of contemporary music, but we always sing hymns as well. I am so grateful. Hymns are so rich and soul-nourishing, aren't they? :)
